New Delhi: The case of the late Sushant Singh Rajput’s manager Disha Salian has come to a fresh boil. Her father Satish Salian has issued a legal notice against Sharad Pawar’s faction NCP leader Anil Deshmukh and Aaditya Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), seeking Rs 500 crore damages from both of them.
Disha, 28, was killed after jumping off a high-rise building in Malad area in Mumbai on June 8, 2020. Police initially said it was an accident. Actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death was also reported six days later, leading to speculation that the two deaths are related.
Satish Salian has alleged that his daughter was murdered for years, and that there was a coverup to cover up for the might of the powerful people. He had approached the Bombay High Court requesting that CBI be assigned to the case and Aaditya Thackeray be questioned. The High Court finally gave the CBI one more chance to assume the probe on September 2. Since then, the CBI has lodged an FIR against Aaditya Thackeray, actors Dino Morea and Sooraj Pancholi, among others, and Rhea Chakraborty.
According to Satish Salian in his notice, Thackeray and Deshmukh made an attempt to normalize the way he is fighting for justice as a political attack aimed to tarnish Thackeray’s image. He refers to a March statement by Deshmukh accusing of a “conspiracy” against Thackeray. Salian describes these accusations as “false, baseless and highly detrimental to his reputation.”
He calls on both leaders to honor a sincere, righteous, written apology which must be unconditional and shared by both leaders, unqualified in any way and make it public in print, TV and digital media. When the apology comes in the form of a video, it should be longer than three minutes and posted on their official social media platforms as well for Rs 500 crore.
Aaditya Thackeray has come out and cleared his name. He said he had never met Disha Salian or known her at any time and the years of accusations against him has been a “campaign to defame” him politically on social media.
Once the CBI has gotten a handle on the situation, it will determine the next stop for this case and this new legal battle.
