Heavy rain threw Delhi-NCR into chaos, flooding roads, jamming up traffic, and making it almost impossible for people to get around. Many just gave up on cabs—there were none to be found—or ended up slogging through ankle-deep water, hoping the rain would let up.
It was the same story everywhere: “No cabs, waterlogging everywhere,” commuters grumbled, as transport across the city and its outskirts basically ground to a halt.
Some of the worst traffic headaches hit places like Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, ITO, and Wazirabad Road. Cars crawled along, stuck in water, and nobody was getting anywhere fast.
Office workers, students, anyone with real reasons to travel—everyone felt the pain. Delays became the norm. Quite a few people just stayed home, looking out at the mess and deciding it wasn’t worth the hassle.
The usual low-lying areas turned into puddles, and whenever this happens, it just throws another spotlight on the city’s patchy drainage. As water keeps piling up, traffic jams drag on and even emergency vehicles get stuck.
Drivers also had to deal with terrible visibility, and traffic officials probably had their hands full patrolling the worst-hit spots and trying to keep things moving.
People aren’t just waiting it out, though—they’ve been pressing the city’s agencies to clear out drains, pump off the water, and get the roads moving again. They’re also asking for regular updates on which roads are still flooded so they don’t head straight into trouble.
With more rain in the forecast, everyone’s being told to plan ahead and leave extra time if they need to go anywhere. If things don’t clear up, delays and clogged roads aren’t going anywhere.
