Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 variant to power REDMI K100 Pro, promising a new level of performance

New Delhi: The upcoming Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 has been spotted in a new variant, SM8850-1-AB, and is likely to be found in the upcoming REDMI K100 Pro. The update brings a number of changes to this flagship processor, such as increased speed, enhanced power efficiency, and enhanced AI features. It is one of the biggest changes that Android smartphones feature this year with this new version of the flagship processor.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is already significantly improved from the last generation. It also comes with the Qualcomm’s newest CPUs Oryon and Adreno GPUs, and a more powerful Hexagon NPU to support on-device AI workloads. Combined, the enhancements enable complicated uses such as high-end video games, complicated apps and AI features to function more effectively and take in less battery.

This new variant SM8850-1-AB is thought to be a variation of the chipset. Qualcomm is not officially offering much information as to the difference, but reports indicate it may be tailored to the REDMI K100 Pro to give it even higher sustained performance when playing games, multitasking and heavy workloads. This should result in quicker app launch time, smoother gameplay, faster reporting to AI, and better heat management when playing for extended periods of time.

The new chip may be able to bring more predictable and higher frame rates in the high-end games, while cutting back on power usage, especially when it comes to gamers. Additionally, content creators have the potential to gain a quicker processing time for photos and videos, enhanced AI editing options, and better 4K or even 8K video recording capabilities. Users will going to experience more faster switching between apps, faster voice assistants, and a more responsive overall experience.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is also designed to enable the next generation of AI on the device. That means that a lot of AI can be performed on the smartphone itself instead of the cloud, which translates to instant reaction time, enhanced privacy, and less reliance on the web.

While Qualcomm has not yet revealed all the configurations of the SM8850-1-AB variant, if news about the SM8850-1-AB is correct, then Qualcomm anticipates a new era of Android smartphones. If it’s true, then the chipset will significantly affect the performance, efficiency, gaming and AI experiences for top-tier smartphones in the second half of this year.
