The leaked video not only reveals the retail box of the phone, but also offers a glimpse into the phone’s unique robotic gimbal camera, a feature it’s anticipated would be the most distinguishing feature of the phone.
The packaging is a high-end design in pure white and very sparsely branded. The phone is neatly placed inside the box together with its accessories, including a charger, which looks like it might be a flagship item. The box is simple, but the smartphone stands out due to its unusual camera system.
The difference between a regular smartphone and the Honor Robot Phone is that the former has a motorized camera attached to a small robotic arm. Honor’s cutting-edge AI technology enables the camera to move, tilt, and lift autonomously. The leaked video prototype of this hands-on experience demonstrates smooth tracking of movement, and the camera tracks the subject without the user having to do so manually. That is very beneficial for video recording, vlogging, and video calls.
Honor claims that the Robot Phone’s camera has the industry’s smallest 4DoF (four degrees of freedom) gimbal system that lets the camera rotate in various directions and offers the best stabilization features. It also has an AI-based object tracking system, which can automatically focus on a person or object and automatically monitor them even if they move very quickly.
The camera system can also be used to boost the interaction element. Honor has shown that the robotic module can also be manipulated to make small movements, like nodding, shaking, or responding to user commands, making it more than just a smartphone; it’s an AI companion.
A recent report indicates that Honor will be equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a surface-mounted 6,000mAh battery, and a 1.5K display in the upcoming Robot Phone, which, unsurprisingly, will be a 6.3 to 6.4-inch screen. At this time, Honor hasn’t officially revealed the complete specifications for the Robot Phone, but there’s a report claiming there’ll be a 6.3- to 6.4-inch 1.5K screen with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and a surface-mounted 6,000mAh battery. The camera configuration, according to the rumors, is a third 200MP sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 200MP periscope telephoto lens, making it one of the most powerful camera-centric smartphones of the year.
Honor has previously demonstrated the Robot Phone at major technology conferences this year, and announced in an earlier press release that its launch in China will happen in the second half of 2026. There have now been several reports that it will launch in August 2026, but the company hasn’t released a specific launch date.
Assuming as much, this could be a totally new method for using smartphone cameras if the latest leak has just been put off into the final product. The addition of AI, robotic movement, and pro-grade stabilization might set it apart in an ultra-competitive flagship smartphone market.
