New Delhi: We all know that the process of transitioning from iOS to Android has now become significantly more streamlined with the introduction of the latest native migration experience built directly into Android 17. Recently unveiled along with Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z series lineup at Galaxy Unpacked, this upgraded system enables users to wirelessly transfer a broader range of data types from an iPhone to an Android device without the need to download separate apps.
This updated transfer process simplifies moving core user data such as photos, videos, contacts, messages, and calendar entries while extending support to include some of the latest data categories: Google Account details, saved passwords and Wi-Fi credentials, and eSIM data.
This enhanced native experience has begun rolling out to select Google Pixel devices and is integrated into the recently introduced Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 series. Its availability is expected to extend to additional Android devices in the near future.
In tandem with the platform-level upgrades, Samsung’s upgraded Smart Switch utility unveils additional capabilities specially designed to reduce the device setup time for former iOS users:
- QR Code Pairing: users can initiate wireless transfer simply by scanning a QR code on their existing iPhone.
- Expanded Data support: Smart Switch now supports the migration of passwords, passkeys, call history, accessibility settings, and eSIM profiles.
Cross-platform file transfers between iOS and Galaxy hardware have been addressed. Through the latest added Quick Share compatibility with AirDrop, users can now share files bidirectionally between iOS and Galaxy devices without relying on third-party workarounds.
