New Delhi: At the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event, Samsung has officially unveiled its newest set of intelligent eyewear, which is powered by AI. Together with Google and Qualcomm, as well as the highest-quality eyewear companies Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, the enterprise created the new wearable. The smart glasses run on Android XR and Gemini AI, embedding all the capabilities of Google’s AI into a smart, lightweight, and fashionable design with hands-free AI features.
Samsung’s Intelligent Eyewear is crafted to seamlessly blend into the user’s daily attire without compromising the device’s appearance, while incorporating its smart features. The company promises that the glasses are designed to be comfortable, fashionable, and practical with Built-in AI features, not as a replacement for smartphones.
Built with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset as with integrated speakers, microphones, camera, and voice control, the glasses have all the necessary features. Users can ask questions to Gemini, provide instructions, translate conversations while they are happening, summarize text, take photos, and gather information about objects in their surroundings; all without having to remove their phones. Samsung’s native Bixby personal assistant also works.
The best feature is that AI will see what the user is looking at. Gemini can give helpful information from the environment in many situations, such as reading a sign, seeing a table in a new restaurant, or going to an unfamiliar destination. The glasses are also equipped with the functionalities of navigation, hands-free speech-to-speech communication, and context-based support.
Samsung has introduced some privacy-related features, too. The visual LED light is activated when the camera is recording to make people nearby know that the camera is recording. The above additional features include wear detection, meaning that it won’t record anything if they are not being worn. The measures are designed to tackle the privacy issues that have bedeviled previous smart glasses by other manufacturers.
One of the other major attributes is battery life. The smart glasses are said to offer up to nine hours of battery life per charge. The case included with the glasses offers up to 7 extra full charges, so that users can keep the glasses powered during the day.
The Intelligent Eyewear will come in designs by Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, offering more clothing line options to users. Samsung demonstrated the models at the Galaxy Unpacked event, but has not yet announced pricing. The company revealed that it will go on sale in some of its markets later this year, but more details will be available in the near future.
Samsung is going beyond the scope of smartphones, smartwatches, XR headsets, and more with its Intelligent Eyewear line. Android XR, Gemini AI, and stylish designs are expected to make AI more ubiquitous in everyday life in the market, in competition with other smart glasses players like Meta. It’s also a significant milestone in Samsung and Google’s ongoing collaboration and relationship to create the future of AI-powered wearable devices.
