New Delhi: At Galaxy Unpacked July 2026, Samsung revealed an updated (but still not the limit) Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and Galaxy Watch 9 lineup of smartwatches. The latest smartwatch launches have been focused on greater battery life, larger displays, greater power, and new artificial intelligence-centric functions, with all of them written with the approach of enhancing the understanding of fitness and wellness.
The firm has developed two smartwatches, one for each kind of user. Galaxy Watch 9 is aimed at those looking to keep track of their daily health or track smart capabilities, while Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is geared towards adventure-seeking individuals, athletes, and outdoor enthusiasts who demand ruggedness and durability.
One of the most notable features of the new devices is Samsung’s use of the latest Snapdragon Wear Elite processor. It’s a twist on the previous Galaxy Watches, which used Exynos. The new chipset delivers a boost in performance, responsiveness, power efficiency, and enhanced support for the AI features.
One really nifty feature is longer battery life. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 now features a larger 800mAh battery, which is about 35% larger than the one in the Galaxy Watch Active 1. This will help users avoid the hassle of having to go inside for hours to charge their e-scooters, Samsung says. The battery has also been upgraded from the handset’s standard Galaxy Watch9, with the availability up to 445mAh according to the various models, which should help them achieve endurance.
Besides that, Samsung has beefed up the screens of both watches. It is one of the brightest smartwatch screens in the world, with a great Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 5,000-nit display. They make them more visible even in strong sunlight conditions, so they are good for outdoor activities like walking, cycling, running, etc. The Ultra2, thanks to its toughness, is also extremely thin- 10.7 mm thick- for easy wearing.
Samsung is constantly striving in health tracking. In addition, both of the new smartwatches come with a selection of AI-based health features with more personal data analysis. New features are Vitals, which tracks key bodily changes during sleep, Daily Cardio Load, and a Fitness Index, which provides an easy-to-understand overview of the user’s fitness status. These features can facilitate Samsung Health and help users gain a deeper understanding of their health and make informed choices for their lifestyle.
For Samsung owners, there’s also a new feature for acting as an athletic and adventurer fit-tracker. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 support for outdoor usage has been improved, with more sophisticated GPS usage tracking and a reminder to drink water. Later, too, a new diving outfit will be available, developed in partnership with Mares, that will further ensure the use of the watch for exciting diving experiences from a metadata perspective.
Higher amounts of AI are included in Galaxy Watches of this period. People can talk with Google’s Gemini AI assistant with a new Raise-to-Talk feature, meaning that users just have to raise their wrist to interact with Google’s AI assistant. This minimizes the number of touches to the screen when asking questions, for reminders, or sending messages to control smart devices.
Samsung has also added some minor tweaks to the Galaxy Watch 9’s design as well. Freshly redesigned lighter, more breathable straps for all-day comfort and workouts. As for the design, the most significant changes boil down to the differences in comfort; yet the configuration is nonetheless the classic Galaxy Watch design.
Galaxy Watch9 offers a price of $379.99, whereas the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, which comes with a larger battery, brighter display screen, and greater functionality for the outdoor enthusiast, is $699.99. Both smartwatches have begun the pre-ordering process and will be available globally from August 7, 2026.
Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 are Samsung’s foray to make things better in the high-end Smartwatch segment. The company aims to stand up to the big boys in the smartwatch game and deliver smarter and more functional wearable technology to its customers with a combination of improved hardware, longer battery life, enhanced AI technology, and an in-depth analysis of health tracking.
