New Delhi: Xiaomi has recently announced that its upcoming Xiaomi 18 series might arrive in India much earlier than the previous Xiaomi 17 series. However, several recent reports suggested that a revised debut timeline and a reshuffled lineup indicate Xiaomi might be changing its flagship strategy for the Indian market.
Xiaomi is planning to bring the Xiaomi 18 series to India in December. It might mark a significant shift from Xiaomi’s usual schedule, as Xiaomi’s flagship phones have typically reached global markets, including India, during the first quarter of the following year.
Reports claim that the Xiaomi 18 series might consist of three devices, which include: Xiaomi 18, Xiaomi 18 Pro, and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. The report stated Xiaomi has canceled the Xiaomi 18 Ultra, with the Pro Max expected to become the brand’s top-end flagship in its place. This might represent one of the biggest changes to Xiaomi’s premium smartphone portfolio in recent years.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is also going to arrive in limited quantities in India, similar to the strategy Xiaomi earlier adopted for its Ultra-branded devices. Standard and Pro models are expected to be widely available; the flagship Pro Max might aim at enthusiasts looking for Xiaomi’s highest-end offering.
Xiaomi is expected to showcase more Xiaomi-branded smart home appliances and connected products during the December debut event, by positioning the Xiaomi 18 lineup as the center of its expanding ecosystem in India.
