Mumbai: Axis Bank has reported a better than expected rise in its Q1 FY27 results, with the bank posting a 23% rise in net profit to ₹7,114 crore, from ₹5,806 crore posted in the same quarter last year. This has come after the private lender’s net interest income (NII) rose more than 8% YoY to ₹14,646 crore from ₹13,560 crore reported from the same quarter last year.

The lender has improved its debt to equity ratio at 1.12% during the quarter, from 1.15% in the preceding quarter. Its net worth has also risen about 14% year on year to ₹ 2.03 lakh crore, as the bank has worked to strengthen its books by enhancing its provisioning framework for standard assets, in line with its conservative risk management philosophy.

The company has seen its Current Account Savings Account (CASA) deposits grow 6% Quarter on Quarter and almost 18% year on year, with its saving account deposits growing 14% YoY and its current account deposits growing at 13% YoY as well.

The bank witnessed its lender advances rise 19% YoY and 2% QoQ to ₹12.62 lakh crore by the end of the quarter, with its retail loans growing ₹6.76 lakh crore overall, accounting for 54% of its net advances.

During the quarter, the bank has worked to build its brand combining trust, innovation and resilience, and align its services with evolving customer expectations.

“This quarter, we continued to invest across these priorities—strengthening digital security, deploying AI to simplify customer journeys, expanding growth platforms, and supporting ecosystems that drive economic progress. With these investments, we hope to create lasting value for our customers, stakeholders, and the communities we serve,” Amitabh Chaudhry, Axis Bank’s MD and CEO, said.
