Vivo X500 Ultra may debut with triple 200MP telephoto cameras

New Delhi: Recently, several reports have claimed Vivo has not finalized the camera hardware for the upcoming Vivo X500 Ultra. Rather than, Vivo is reported to be evaluating multiple 200MP periscope telephoto sensors before locking in the final imaging system.

Vivo is currently experimenting with three different 200MP telephoto sensors with varying sizes: 1/1.12-inch, 1/1.3-inch, and 1/1.4-inch. The largest 1/1.12-inch sensor is described as a more aggressive approach for telephoto photography, while the 1/1.3-inch and 1/1.4-inch options are considered more balanced solutions.

However, leaks indicated that Vivo’s engineering team is still comparing the strengths and trade-offs of each sensor. And the larger sensor might deliver improved light gathering and image quality at long focal lengths, although it might also require a more complex and space-intensive camera module.

Vivo had dropped plans to adopt a dedicated 10x periscope camera for the Vivo X500 Ultra. Vivo had canceled a prototype featuring a 10x telephoto lens and planned to continue by using a single 200MP periscope camera coupled with in-sensor zoom technology. The final configuration is subject to change.
