Hyderabad: India’s leading homegrown defence startup Zen Technologies Limited has announced the launch of its Integrated Smart Border Suite (ISBS) as it looks to meet India’s unique defense requirements at the borders. This introduces an interconnected anti-infiltration and counter-hybrid warfare asset that allows India to safeguard its land frontiers.
This announcement comes after Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared that India will now roll out a nationwide ‘smart border’ project aimed at securing about 6,000 km of borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh using advanced technologies like drones, radar and smart surveillance systems. This suite provides a turnkey command layer capable of identifying and neutralizing asymmetric border threats- including drug-carrying drone swarms and cross-border insurgencies in real time.
Anatomy of the ISBS

The modern requirement of security remains quite challenging, with traditional trench layouts remaining ineffective for real-time electronic responses to combat cheap, commercial-grade FPV (First-Person View) drones used by cross-border smuggling networks. The ISBS integrates seven in-house military platforms into a singular operational interface:
- AI-Powered Anti-Drone Systems: vehicle-mounted, man-portable systems that deliver both soft kill and hard kill capabilities against hostile drone threats.
- Smart Loitering Munition: Using AI-enabled loitering systems capable of surveillance and target acquisitions, these integrated munitions offer precision strike operations in contested environments.
- Interceptor Drones: High-speed drones are engineered to detect, pursue, and neutralize hostile drones before they reach protected assets or critical zones.
- Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs): Autonomous vehicles that work for reconnaissance, surveillance, logistics support and tactical operations in high-risk environments.
- Remote Controlled Weapon Stations (RCWS): Integrates with electro-optical sensors, thermal imaging and fire-control systems to offer accurate target engagement from protected positions.
- Electro-Optical & Thermal Surveillance Systems: Long-range, all-weather surveillance systems offer intelligent tracing and thermal sensing for all-weather monitoring across difficult terrain.
“India’s border security architecture is undergoing a fundamental transformation, from static, manpowerintensive deployments to intelligent, autonomous and technology-driven protection systems capable of responding to dynamic and asymmetric threats in real time. Zen’s Integrated Smart Border Suite has been developed as an indigenous AI-enabled ecosystem that seamlessly integrates anti-drone systems, autonomous surveillance, precision-response platforms and real-time situational awareness into a unified operational grid. As India accelerates the modernization of its border infrastructure under the vision of an ‘Impenetrable Smart Border’, indigenous defence technologies built on Indian intellectual property will play a decisive role in strengthening national security, operational readiness and strategic self-reliance.” Mr. Ashok Atluri, Chairman & Managing Director, Zen Technologies, said in a press release.
