New Delhi: Microsoft has officially announced that the Samsung Gallery will going to stop syncing directly with the OneDrive from September 30, 2026, by ending the long-running cloud photo integration available on Samsung devices.
Samsung users will no longer be able to connect with the Samsung Gallery with the OneDrive after the deadline. Photos and Videos stored on OneDrive will no longer appear inside the Samsung Gallery application automatically.
This change does not mean that users will lose their existing files. Photos and videos already backed up to OneDrive will remain safe and accessible via the OneDrive applications, the OneDrive website, and other connected devices. Users will now need to rely on OneDrive’s own Camera Backup feature rather than Samsung Gallery sync for future uploads.
Samsung Gallery sync feature with the OneDrive is being discontinued completely after the September 30, 2026. New users will not be able to link Samsung Gallery with OneDrive anymore, while existing users will also lose direct syncing support via the Gallery application.
Samsung Gallery will stop displaying photos stored in OneDrive, and the latest photos or videos captured on a Samsung device will no longer automatically upload via the Gallery integration. To continue automatic cloud backups, Microsoft is asking users to enable Camera Backup inside the OneDrive applications manually.
Users will need to open the OneDrive application, log in with their Microsoft account, tap on Account Profile, allow the Camera Backup option, and grant OneDrive permission to access photos and videos stored on the device. Once it is allowed, future photos and videos will upload directly via the OneDrive application rather than Samsung Gallery.
Upcoming changes will not delete or modify any files already stored in OneDrive. Users will still be able to access their previously backed up photos and videos across all devices where OneDrive is available.
This shift reflects a broader shift where companies are increasingly moving cloud backup services into standalone applications rather than maintaining deeper integrations inside third-party smartphone gallery applications.
