New Delhi: Insta360 is all geared up to introduce its most anticipated Insta360 Luna Ultra pocket gimbal camera. It seems like Insta360 is aiming well beyond casual vlogging this time. The biggest tweak is the camera system itself.
The Luna Ultra also appears to use a dual-camera setup built around a 1-inch primary sensor coupled with the dedicated 3x telephoto lens, which was developed along with Leica. The main camera uses an f/1.8 aperture, while the telephoto lens allows around 6x lossless zoom and up to 12x hybrid zoom overall.
This already puts it much closer to the compact mirrorless-style setup than the typical Pocket camera. Some leaked images show a detachable front grip that magnetically separates from the body and turns into the wireless remote controller with a 2-inch OLED touchscreen.
There is also a joystick for gimbal control, zoom controls, and a dedicated record button. It could end up being genuinely useful rather than just another gimmick accessory.
Luna Ultra appears to retain a full three-axis mechanical gimbal, which retains one of the biggest advantages these dedicated pocket cameras still have over smartphones. It is also going to support 6K recording at 50fps, 4K at 120fps, 10-bit i-Log, and Dolby Vision.
It also indicates certain slow-motion modes might push beyond that. The camera is also stated to support 32-bit audio recording at 48kHz, along with compatibility with Insta360’s wireless microphone ecosystem.
