New Delhi: As we all know, back when Microsoft was really pushing Copilot, many users saw a change to the Windows keyboard for the first time in years. This change turned the Right Ctrl key into a Copilot key. Now users can easily access Microsoft’s AI assistant by pressing the Copilot key. It will pop up.
Microsoft is now dealing with an AI backlash. They had a wake-up call around the end of 2025 that people didn’t want them to make Windows 11 worse just to add AI features. Microsoft started Windows K2, a project to remove unnecessary Copilot features and fix some big problems with Windows 11.
Microsoft also announced that they will let users change the Copilot key back to its original function. Microsoft said they will release a Windows 11 upgrade this year. This upgrade will add a setting to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Keyboard screen. This setting will let users change the Copilot Key to either the Context Menu key or the right Ctrl key.
Microsoft hasn’t said when the upgrade will arrive. Users are sure that people who had problems with the Copilot key will be happy when it is released. The users are looking forward to the release of the upgrade. Microsoft’s Copilot key change had ruined the workflows of some users. These users are waiting for the upgrade.
