New Delhi: US-based healthtech startup Innovaccer has announced another round of layoffs as the company shifts towards an AI-focused business model. The company’s Indian-American Chief Executive Officer, Abhinav Shashank, told its staff that a number of positions would be cut as the company moved towards becoming an “AI-native company.”
About 340 employees from India and the United States are expected to lose their jobs, reports said. It is said to be the third big round of cuts in the past four years at Innovaccer. Estimated at almost $3.4 billion in value, the startup is renowned for offering healthcare data and AI solutions for hospitals and medical organizations.
The news of the layoffs spread like wildfire across the Internet when screenshots of an internal email, sent by Shashank, began circulating online. The CEO “acknowledged the contribution of those who were affected, as of this writing described in the email as a ‘difficult day’ for the company. Innovaccer Shashank informed workers that some of them will be given a heads-up when they are being let go from his People Experience team. The company’s leader stated that he will be going to make sure that every employee affected by the company’s decision will get severance packages and a transition program.
