Amazon Engineer Moves to Ireland and Says Life Much Better

New Delhi: A software engineer who earlier worked from Bengaluru has gone viral on the internet after he shared his experience of migrating to Ireland for a new job at Amazon.

The engineer confided that he was now making money to the tune of around Rs 1.3 crore a year in salary and felt overall quality of life was better after the relocation.

In his social media post, he explained that while Bengaluru provided an opportunity for excellent career, there were challenges in daily life in the form of traffic congestion and long commute time that impacted the work-life balance.

After his move to Ireland, he said he now enjoys a calmer lifestyle, shorter hours of commuting and improved public services.

The story soon spread on the social media platforms, where many professionals shared their views about the benefits and challenges of working abroad.

Some people were in support of this move and said international exposure can give better salaries, an improved infrastructure and new career growth opportunities.

Others highlighted that going abroad has its own issues. These may include adapting to a new culture, being away from family, and being able to handle the higher cost of living.

The debate reflects a much larger trend in which many Indian technology professionals are looking for jobs in countries such as Ireland, Canada, Germany and the United States.

Ireland has become a significant technology centre within Europe. Many global companies like Amazon, Google, and Meta have major offices in it.
