New Delhi: There was a significant technical malfunction at Amazon Web Services also referred to as AWS that led to a large scale internet outage in 2025. Numerous popular websites, applications, and online services went down several hours. The event impacted the user base in various nations and disrupted the tech sector.
AWS is a cloud service provider that is among the largest companies in the world. It is used by thousands of companies to archive their data and operate their websites. The online shopping, payment applications, and even the office tools ceased to work when AWS servers failed.
People went to social media and complained. Numerous individuals claimed they are unable to do work, participate in online conferences, and make online payments. Small businesses were affected as their websites collapsed at the most appropriate times.
The tech analysts said that the incident that led to the outage was a technical fault at one of the AWS data centers. Although Amazon acted fast to correct the situation, it was too late. This cast grave doubts on the issue of trusting to one cloud provider.
According to critics, companies cannot rely entirely on a single service. They cautioned that their failures might reoccur and lead to even greater losses. There is now a trend of multiple-cloud providers being planned by certain companies as a means of risk reduction.
Amazon replied by giving out an apology and vowed to have better systems in place to prevent future hitches. The company claimed that it is putting more money into backup systems and security.
