New Delhi: The Indian IT giant Infosys creates headlines again with its financial success while the Murty family members garner significant dividends. This year Ekagrah Rohan Murty captured attention among other since he is the grandson of Infosys creator Narayana Murty. At five months old Ekagrah achieves the rare distinction of becoming one of India’s youngest one-billionaire citizens.
In November 2023 Ekagrah Rohan Murty arrived as the first child of his parents Rohan Murty and Aparna Krishnan in Bengaluru. He serves as the third grandchild of Infosys founder Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murty. The family of Ekagrah carries wide recognition globally because his sisters Anoushka and Krishna are the children of Akshata Murty and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
At four months old Ekagrah received a valuable gift from his grandfather which included 15 lakh (1.5 million) Infosys shares. The stock he received amounted to more than ₹240 crore in that era. His childhood gift from grandfather turned him into a millionaire even though he had not yet uttered his first words of communication. The investment reflected intelligent thinking towards his financial security because stock value was expected to increase significantly in the future.
The information technology giant Infosys declared its final dividend at ₹22 per share on April 17 2025 for its financial period ending March 2025. The 15 lakh shares he possesses allowed Ekagrah to obtain ₹3.3 crore from the dividend distribution. Before this announcement he received ₹7.35 crore as interim dividend payments earlier during the year. The dividends earned by Ekagrah this financial year reached a total sum of ₹10.65 crore as he received ₹3.3 crore from the final dividend payment of ₹22 per share along with his initial dividend payment of ₹7.35 crore.
The Murthy family’s deep connection with Infosys goes back to 1981 when Narayana Murthy and six others started the company. Except for one co-founder, Ashok Arora, all others have become billionaires.
