New Delhi: Jayanti Chauhan, Vice Chairperson at Bisleri International, has recently find herself under media spotlight when she was offered ₹7,000 crore offer by Ratan Tata to buy bottled water business her father Ramesh Chauhan had created. She agreed instead to take up the task of steering forward this much beloved brand. And in less than 6 months of operation, the company is ready, the company has transformed, it achieved ₹2,300 crore turnover in the last fiscal.
The soft drink company Bisleri which was started by Ramesh Chauhan over three decades ago has now become synonymous with soft drinks in India. Today competition is offered big thumbs by Kinley, Aquafina and yet Bisleri continues to lead bottled water a brand that has the real test of time.
The question could have been brewing for years, and later, Tata Consumer Products Limited was preparing to acquire Bisleri in 2023, but one day, Jayanti announced that she could take the family business. Ramesh Chauhan later on pulled out from the deal and decided to maintain the company in a family basis.
Jayanti’s has both good and bad times, she studied in school such as the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles and the London College of Fashion. At the age of 24, she joined Bisleri and was able to work along side her father and bring new concept to the company. Bringing in automation into the company to enhancing the marketing strategies used for the brand, Jayanti can be credited for modernising Bisleri.
During her tenure, the Bisleri company earned revenue of 2,300 crore in the financial year 2022-2023. Of course, it is not equivalent to ₹7,000 crores bid of Tata but Jayanti believes that the company will rise higher with time as well as with innovation.
Jayanti also created a buzz when she added ‘Khan’ to her name and everyone started gossiping about her personal life. She later clarified that it was a gesture from the heart to her mother, Zainab Khan. She is currently single and is open to someone who shares her values and dreams.
Jayanti Chauhan chose to decline such a big deal as she believes in Bisleri and wants to do justice to her family’s legacy.
