New Delhi: An Ola Electric scooter recently made waves on social media when a creative user found a new way to deal with a power outage. A post on X (formerly Twitter) showed a man using the headlamp of his Ola scooter as a makeshift light source during a full-day power cut. The post caught the attention of Bhavish Aggarwal, Ola Electric’s CEO, who reacted positively and mentioned that the company is working on a solution called the “PowerPod.”

Aggarwal’s response sparked lots of chatter online. Many users pitched in with suggestions, like adding a power socket in the scooter’s boot for emergencies. One user was particularly excited about the PowerPod idea, saying it would make using the scooter as a backup power source much easier. Someone even nicknamed Aggarwal “Olan Musk,” appreciating his innovative approach and comparing him to Elon Musk.
This isn’t the only news from Ola Electric recently. The company announced plans to step into the quick food delivery game through the ONDC platform, promising food deliveries in just ten minutes. They’re also planning a major expansion of their retail stores, aiming to grow from 800 to 4,000 outlets by December 2024.
However, not all the attention has been positive. In another viral post, an Ola scooter owner was seen smashing his ride out of frustration after receiving a shocking service bill of ₹90,000. This incident sparked debates about service costs and the need for better transparency in the EV market.
These stories show both the exciting innovations and challenges Ola Electric faces as it works to meet customer needs and grow in India’s booming EV space.
