New Delhi: With the release of the iPhone 16, Apple has gained attention once more. Every September, tech enthusiasts worldwide eagerly await Apple’s announcement regarding the release of its flagship phone.
Since Steve Jobs launched the iPhone in 2007, more than 1.24 billion iPhones have been sold, eventually capturing 16% of the global smartphone market. Apple fans are known to line up more than a day before the official launch, with some paying beggars or students to line up for them.
For most of them, the iPhone is more than an aspirational product, it’s an investment, and their most prized possession. So much, that stores have had to invest in unprecedented security measures to prevent iPhone theft.
For opportunistic criminals, an iPhone can mean quick money. The iPhone 16 base model is selling for upwards of $1,000 on eBay, an instant $200 profit for those willing to risk it. This, along with common industry best practices, forces Apple to keep every new product launch a closely guarded secret.
The initial reviews for the iPhone have remained mixed, but they hardly matter for most people, as Apple has always maintained its reputation for innovative design and revolutionary technologies that has set it apart from any Android phone that exists in the market.
That being said, is Apple falling behind in the tech race?
Not really, most experts agreed. Despite its late entry into the AI race—it is expected to release Apple Intelligence in beta form in October—the majority of Apple’s consumer continues to have faith in Apple to provide an AI solution unmatched by other companies.
Apple has a reputation for using its exclusive tech environment to produce superior in-built features that virtually no other tech brand has developed yet. This is true even if another tech firm develops a function that the iPhone does not already have.
In other words, iPhone users are willing to wait for Apple to develop new functionalities for their phones. Its lifetime free updates and exceptional after sales service make the iPhone a tech investment like no other. While all brands need to constantly innovate and offer better features than their competitors, Apple can take its own time to create the same features that work across all its product range- the Mac, Apple Watch and the iPad.
The iPhone was the first smartphone launched in the market, and its many innovations since have been adapted, cloned and modified by other brands to keep up with the times. The Apple was the first to launch a multi camera smartphone and an entirely touch-based user interface. Every other brand using Android has consistently tried to improve on these innovations, and they are all keenly watching Apple’s next move in the AI space. Diehard Apple fans and aspirational buyers have bought the iPhone 16 expecting an AI-enhanced software update. It has taken Apple 2 years to integrate AI to its tech, but will it meet expectations this time? Most analysts and Apple fans think so. Everyone’s waiting for the next big thing in AI from Apple next month.
