New Delhi: As the iPhone 16 series launched in India, long lines formed outside Apple’s main stores in Mumbai and Delhi. While many people waited excitedly, one clever customer avoided the wait by ordering the iPhone 16 online and received it within minutes right outside the store in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex.
Witnessing this, Swapnil Sinha shared on X (formerly Twitter), “What?!? This guy in front of me just ordered the iPhone 16 online. Q-commerce is really taking off.” His comment shows the growing trend of quick shopping, as people use platforms like Blinkit, Zepto, BigBasket, and Flipkart for fast deliveries.
The launch attracted customers from all over India, with many traveling specifically to buy the new models. A big crowd even camped outside the Mumbai store overnight, eager to get the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, which have Apple’s largest screens at 6.3 and 6.9 inches.
One dedicated fan, Ujjwal Shah, waited 21 hours in line to be the first customer. He traveled from Ahmedabad to Mumbai and said, “I am super excited. I’ve been here for 21 hours and will be the first to enter the store.”
The iPhone 16 series includes four models: the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, all introduced at Apple’s annual event on September 9. In India, prices start at ₹79,900 for the iPhone 16, ₹89,900 for the iPhone 16 Plus, ₹1,19,900 for the iPhone 16 Pro, and ₹1,44,900 for the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
New features include the Action Button on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, allowing users to do tasks like identifying songs and opening translation apps. The camera system has also been greatly improved, featuring a 48MP fusion camera for stunning photos.
Apple is also offering a Trade-In program, giving discounts between ₹4,000 and ₹67,500 for customers who exchange their old devices, making it easier to upgrade to the latest models.
