New Delhi: After years of hearing that Siri wasn’t improving much, Apple is launching a smarter version of its digital assistant this fall. With new features and updates thanks to Apple Intelligence, Apple’s advanced AI, and a partnership with OpenAI, here’s what you can expect from the new Siri:
ChatGPT Integration:
Siri will soon use OpenAI’s ChatGPT to give better answers. For example, if you need recipe ideas using ingredients from your garden, you can ask Siri, and it will get suggestions from ChatGPT. You can also send photos or documents with your questions. If you see a flower you like but don’t know its name, you can take a picture and ask Siri what it is and where to find it. You don’t need a ChatGPT account, but you will need to allow Siri to use the service.
Actions Across Apps:
With Apple Intelligence, Siri can do tasks in different apps. For example, you can ask Siri to enhance a photo in the Photos app and then send it to someone in Messages without opening either app. Siri will handle these tasks by itself.
Personal Context Awareness:
Siri will now understand your personal context, which means it can do things just for you. It can use information on your device to find what you need. For instance, if you can’t remember if your friend Alice sent a recipe via text or email, you can ask Siri to find the recipe Alice sent a few days ago. Or, if you need your passport number while booking a flight, Siri can get it from your emails or photos and enter it for you.
Onscreen Awareness:
Siri can now understand what’s on your screen and act accordingly. If a friend texts you a new address, you can ask Siri to add it to their contact card. Or, if someone recommends a show on Apple TV+, you can ask Siri to open it.
These updates make Siri more useful and aware of what you need, making it much easier to use.
