New Delhi: We asked him to put a little more light on the story behind his innovation and he said, “My work makes me travel Delhi-Mumbai frequently and maximum times I choose to travel by road for the love of it. So far, I have driven more than 8 Lac kms. It gives me immense joy to be on the wheels. I enjoy everything about the journey, sunrises, open fields, mountains, rivers, rain, tunnels, tea breaks in Dhabas, giving a lift to strangers, favourite music in my playlist, connection with self, villages passing by- everything is so fulfilling that it gives me a high. Except the sight of a dead dog which kills all this joy.
Seeing dogs lying in a pool of blood with their skulls open is too heart-breaking.
I usually start early for any destination because I prefer calmer roads and the sun coming up. But unfortunately what I see is dead dogs every passing kilometer. The accidents which happen at night play on my windscreen endlessly leaving me sad.
I observed that dogs usually find food around Highway Dhabas and that’s where most accidents happen. At night, the vision is limited because of the dark, so dogs who unexpectedly come on the road get killed by passing cars and trucks.
To make the dogs visible on the roads at night, I designed a solar powered dog collar that lights at night.”
He carries these Solar Collars in his car. Everytime he spots dogs around Dhabas, he puts these collars on them with the help of locals around. It is fun to engage with the locals and drivers on the dhabas through this activity.
Mostly an off roader, he has been exploring beautiful locations, countries, people, cultures, tribes, natural beauty, cafes, hotels, travelled and untraveled routes.
