New Delhi: Apple is planning a big update for Siri, adding advanced AI technology similar to ChatGPT, according to the reports, this decision came after Apple executives were impressed by ChatGPT, according to the reports some people from Apple team were aware of this plan but weren’t allowed to talk publicly.
There are also reports that Apple is close to making a deal with OpenAI. Siri, first introduced in 2011, has had trouble keeping up conversations and understanding context, unlike newer AIs like ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. Siri hasn’t had a major update in years. This revamp is part of Apple’s efforts to improve its AI technology, as shown at their recent iPad event.
The new Siri, expected to be shown at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, will be more conversational and better at understanding context. For example, if a user asks for the weather in San Francisco and then says, “What about New York?” Siri will understand that they want the weather for New York.
Apple also plans to process some AI data on the device instead of using cloud servers, which will save money. To focus on AI, Apple has shifted resources, even stopping a $10 billion self-driving car project. Apple’s wide range of devices and advanced chip technology will likely make Siri better than competitors like ChatGPT and Gemini.
This change is said to be Apple’s biggest in almost ten years. Apple’s leaders worry that AI competitors could take over the smartphone software market, so it’s crucial for Apple to integrate these new AI systems smoothly without affecting the user experience.
