Gurugram: Airtel, a leading telecommunications provider in India, recently wrapped up ‘SheCodes,’ an annual hackathon organized in partnership with TechGig, the nation’s largest developer community. The event aimed to celebrate and promote female talent in the tech industry, recognizing top-performing students who, in addition to prizes, will have the opportunity for job placements with India’s premier tech company.
Running from April 16th to May 2nd, 2024, the coding competition targeted the recruitment of young technical leaders in Airtel’s Network and Digital domains. With 4,104 registered participants engaged in three challenging rounds, contestants demonstrated their expertise, problem-solving skills, and adaptability, showcasing their coding abilities and innovative thinking.
The climax occurred on May 1st, 2024, at Airtel’s headquarters in Gurugram, where the top teams vied for prestigious awards. Following this, finalists underwent interviews for potential positions at Airtel, with successful candidates scheduled to join the company in July 2025.
The winning team, Network-X, comprised Ananya Bansal, Sanya Mahajan, Vanshika Khurana, and Suhana Khandelwal.
Sanjay Goyal, Business Head of TechGig, expressed excitement about the collaboration, emphasizing its significance in empowering talented coders and narrowing the gender gap in the tech community.
Amrita Padda, Chief People Officer at Airtel, underscored the company’s dedication to promoting diversity and inclusion in the tech sector. She commended the enthusiastic response to ‘SheCodes,’ emphasizing its role in identifying and nurturing the next generation of female tech leaders.
Overall, 20 students secured placements at Airtel as a result of the campaign.
