New Delhi: S. N. Subrahmanyan, the Chairman and Managing Director of Larsen & Toubro Group, expressed his belief in India’s potential to become a technological superpower within the next two decades. A rapid-fire session conducted by L&T Technology Services, Subrahmanyan, also known as SNS, emphasized India’s favorable economic and situational conditions.
Coming from an engineering background, SNS displayed optimism about the current state of the engineering sector in the country. Known for favoring ‘intuition’ over ‘logic’ in decision-making, he shared insights into his hiring strategy. According to the L&T top executive, qualities such as ‘time commitment,’ ‘being true to oneself,’ and ‘deep involvement’ are pivotal when selecting engineers.
In terms of technology, Subrahmanyan expressed particular enthusiasm for ‘Digital and Data.’ While acknowledging the challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence (AI), he hoped it wouldn’t surpass human capabilities.
Reflecting on his own journey, Subrahmanyan advised his younger self to ‘work hard,’ emphasizing the significance of performance and adaptability in navigating life’s course. He disclosed that during his university days, Calculus was the most challenging subject in his engineering studies.
When asked about a historical figure he would like to have dinner with, Subrahmanyan promptly chose ‘Albert Einstein.’ In summary, the L&T Chairman highlighted the importance of hard work, performance, and adaptability in achieving one’s goals as life unfolds.
