IDFC FIRST Private Banking and Hurun India launched the first edition of ‘IDFC FIRST Private Hurun India’s Top 200 Self-made Entrepreneurs of the Millennia 2023’, a list of the 200 most valuable companies in India founded after the year 2000. These companies are ranked according to their value, defined as market capitalization for listed companies and valuations for non-listed companies.
Cumulative value of all the companies in the list is INR 30 lakh crore, which is equivalent to the GDP of Denmark.
The average age of the founders of the companies featured in India’s Top 200 Self-made Entrepreneurs of the Millennia 2023 is 44 years. One-third of the founders featured in the list are under 40.
Featured among the Top of the Youngest in this list are Kaivalya Vohra (21)– Zepto, Shashvat Nakrani (25) – BharatPe, Dilsher Malhi (27) & Siddhant Saurabh (28) -Zupee, Neetish Sarda (30)– Smartworks, Ritesh Agarwal (29) -OYO, Sanjay Dasari (30) -WayCool, Ankush Sachdeva (30) -Sharechat, Hemesh Singh (30)- Unacademy and Rajan Bajaj (30) -Slice.

India’s Top 200 Self-made Entrepreneurs of the Millennia 2023 came from 23 cities across India, led by Bengaluru (129), Mumbai (78) and Gurugram and New Delhi (49). These three cities account for over half of India’s Top 200 Self-made Entrepreneurs of the Millennia 2023. Only one-fourth of the companies featured in India’s Top 200 Self-made Entrepreneurs of the Millennia 2023 are listed on the stock exchange.
Financial services and Retail led the way with 46 and 30 companies in India’s Top 200 Self-made Entrepreneurs of the Millennia 2023, followed by Healthcare with 27 entrants.
The cut-off date to arrive at this list was 30th September 2023. This list refers to companies headquartered in India only (state-owned companies and subsidiaries of foreign companies are not included).
