Uttar Pradesh (India), November 30: Noida International University (NIU) successfully concluded its first-ever Annual Sports Week on November 26, 2023, culminating in a grand closing ceremony coinciding with the celebration of NCC Day. The three-day extravaganza showcased a diverse array of sporting events involving participants from all schools within the university.
The Overall Champions trophy was secured by NIIMS with 14 medals and the runner-up trophy was secured by the School of Liberal Arts (SLA) with 12 medals in both individual and team games.
The historic sports day marked a significant milestone for NIU, with the Sports Council and NCC cadets leading the organization and volunteering efforts. The university’s Vice-Chancellor and Pro Vice-Chancellor acknowledged and felicitated the Sports Council for their dedication and hard work.
The closing ceremony on November 26 proved to be a spectacular event, featuring NCC cadres in various activities and cultural programs. The campus was aglow with lights, reflecting the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie.
Lt. Pratima Pandey, the Director of Sports at Noida International University, expressed satisfaction with the seamless execution of both indoor and outdoor competitions. The semi-final rounds took place on November 25, leading up to the grand finals on November 26. The event was coordinated by Aditya Tiwari, NIU Sports General Secretary; Mr Harish Patwal, Sports & NCC PI, Department of Sports; Dheeraj Singh Rana, NIIMS General Secretary; Aditya Mishra, Deputy General Secretary; and Yoginder Singh, Joint Secretary of Noida International University. Their commitment ensured that the event was conducted with utmost discipline and adherence to rules.
