New Delhi: WinZO, the popular online social gaming platform, has joined forces with prestigious educational institutions in Telangana to nurture gaming talent, encourage innovation, and promote entrepreneurship. Notably, they’ve partnered with renowned institutions like the Indian School of Business (ISB) and the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIIT Hyderabad).
Paavan Nanda, the co-founder of WinZO, is thrilled about these collaborations. He highlights their shared mission of developing gaming talent and driving innovation through collaborative, action-oriented efforts. Nanda believes that by harnessing the potential of Telangana’s brightest minds, combined with their substantial $50 million fund and access to a vast user base of 175 million, they can take India’s gaming sector to new heights. Together, they envision a future where gaming becomes a significant contributor to India’s exports and global recognition.
Currently, WinZO is hosting ‘Open House’ sessions for investment and mentorship at the ongoing Indian Game Developers Conference (IGDC) in Hyderabad. This is an opportunity for students from partnering colleges to pitch their ideas for funding. Additionally, the company plans to provide students with mentorship in crucial areas such as fundraising, customer acquisition, monetization, and gaming engagement, along with insights on establishing a global gaming company.
As the gaming sector continues to grow in India, WinZO is committed to enhancing gaming talent and fostering innovation to boost economic growth in the state. It’s worth noting that WinZO is already one of India’s largest gaming companies, achieving a remarkable milestone in June by surpassing 40 billion microtransactions in free-to-play games on its platform. Interestingly, about 90% of its users come from tier II and tier III cities.
Furthermore, WinZO has global expansion in its sights and is preparing to launch its platform in Brazil with a significant investment of $25 million. This strategic move is expected to further support Indian game developers in showcasing and distributing their games worldwide.
