New Delhi: Reliance Industries Ltd, an oil to chemical, retail and telecom conglomerate, has topped the Wizikey News Score 2022 ranking as the nation’s most visible corporate in the media.
Reliance Industries has a NewsScore of 92.56 for 2022; it becomes the first-ever Indian company to cross the threshold of 90. However, Reliance which Mukesh Ambani leads, improved its news score from 84.9 in 2021.
Among all Indian corporates, Reliance Industries has topped Wizikey’s Newsmakers rankings third time in a row.
Wizikey’s News Score is the world’s first standardised metric to measure news visibility for brands and individuals using big data, artificial intelligence, media intelligence and machine learning.
The News Score considers various critical criteria like headline presence, news volume, readership and the reach of publications.
By monitoring over 4,00,000 publications, the score ranges from 0 to 100. It represents the media presence of a brand in publications that matter.
Talking about Reliance, Wizikey measured the conglomerate’s score at 15.24k under the headlines parameter, 96.11k in the volume parameter, 6.58k in the publication parameter and on the readership criteria 110.28 bn – each parameter represents a wide 40-60 per cent gap over the second-placed State Bank of India.
The top 5 other corporates include State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, and One97 Communications.
According to a statement, “Wizikey’s News Score estimates for Reliance exclude standalone headline mentions of most well-known consumer brands from Reliance such as Jio’, ‘Network18’, ‘Mumbai Indians’, ‘Moneycontrol’, ‘Hamleys’ and others. Inclusion of all 300 brands from Reliance’s portfolio in the search should have meaningfully enhanced Wizikey’s News Score even further.”
For the second quarter (Q2) that concluded in September 2022, the oil-to-telecom conglomerate posted a consolidated net profit of ₹13,656 crores, a decrease of 0.2% Year over Year. The corresponding quarter of last year was ₹13,680 crore (Q2FY22).
The profit after tax (PAT) fell 24% in the previous June quarter against ₹17,955 crores.
In the quarter under review, the world’s biggest oil refining complex, Reliance, reported a 33.7% increase in revenue from operations at ₹2.32 lakh crore. In the year-ago period, the company had posted revenue of ₹1.74 lakh crore.
