Mumbai, November 5: Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has successfully commissioned a major 300 MW solar power project in Koppal, Karnataka, for the state-run Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). TP Saurya, a wholly owned company of TPREL has been implementing the project. Using bifacial modules, the project combines advanced tracking technology with high-efficiency solar modules to generate 810 million units (MUs) of clean energy annually, mitigating more than 103,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, the company said in a regulatory filing.

The newly commissioned solar plant is engineered to boost India’s expanding renewable energy portfolio, with a capacity to generate 300 MW of energy by following the sun’s trajectory throughout the day and optimizing energy generation capacity.

The project reflects TPREL’s focus on building a diverse and inclusive workforce, with about 40% being women in important roles like Site Managers and Site Engineers, supporting technical execution and team management.

The commissioning strengthens TPREL’s portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects, reinforcing its commitment to support India’s transition to a low-carbon energy future through technology-led solutions and strong execution capabilities.

With this, TPREL’s total renewable utility capacity has reached 12 GW, with about 7.2 GW operational, including 5.8GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind capacity, with another 4.9 GW under various stages of implementation.
