Mumbai, November 4: Pharma major Lupin Limited has reported a double digit decline in its consolidated net profit for Q2 FY27, even as its overall sales revenue rose 14% on a year on year (YoY) basis. This decline was a result of competitive pressures, a phase out of certain key products and an exceptional legal settlement claim.
Net profit for Q2 FY27 was ₹1,155 crore, compared to ₹1,484.83 crore during the same period last year, Despite that, the company’s operational revenue rose 11% YoY to ₹7,827 crore, from ₹7.047.51 crore, but declined 5.4% on a quarter on quarter (QoQ) basis from ₹8,276.89 crore. Sales revenue for the quarter also increased 14% year on year to ₹7,785 crore from ₹6,831 crore last year.
“We delivered a strong first half of FY27, underpinned by solid growth across key markets and sustained profitability. While we remain mindful of near-term challenges, we are confident in our long-term growth prospects, supported by the strength of our portfolio, continued investments in R&D and commercial capabilities, and our unwavering focus on disciplined execution.” Mr. Nilesh Gupta, Managing Director, Lupin Limited said in a press release.
Despite the decline in profitability, Lupin’s performance has been better than expected as per market expectations. The generic pharma player has received 4 ANDA approvals from the US FDA and launched a new product in the US. With this, the company sells 149 generic products in the US market, its biggest in revenue share terms.
