New Delhi: A viral social media post praising Anant Ambani’s reported animal welfare efforts has sparked a discussion online, with users highlighting claims of sheltering nine lakh cows, operating 100 ambulances for injured cattle and rescuing 50,000 cattle reportedly headed for slaughterhouses.
The post, shared on X, argues that Anant challenges the common perception that children of wealthy families are often reckless or disconnected from society. It states that seven lakh of the reported nine lakh cows do not produce milk, drawing attention to the cost and commitment involved in caring for animals that may no longer have commercial value.
However, the specific figures circulating in the post could not be independently verified through the sources reviewed.
Social Media Users Praise the Reported Efforts
The post received supportive reactions from users who highlighted the importance of animal protection and long-term care.
Vijayeendra Katageri, commenting on the viral discussion, described the reported efforts as an example of humanity worth following. He wrote that protecting animals was a responsibility that deserved wider recognition.
Another user, AJITABH (@ajitabh_baruah), expressed a similar sentiment, writing: “I agree, Anant has touched my heart. May Bhagwan bless him.”
GaneshaOffice also praised the reported work, commenting: “All that Punya and Satkarma will not go in vain.”
These reactions reflect the positive response among some social media users, particularly those who view animal care as a form of compassion and service.
Vantara’s Existing Animal Welfare Infrastructure
Beyond the viral claims, Anant Ambani is associated with Vantara, a wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and conservation initiative in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
According to Reliance Foundation, Vantara spans approximately 3,500 acres and provides care to more than 150,000 animals across over 2,000 species. Its work includes specialised veterinary treatment, rehabilitation and conservation initiatives.
The organisation’s focus extends beyond cattle to wildlife, including elephants, big cats and reptiles. Its infrastructure includes veterinary facilities intended to support the treatment and recovery of rescued animals.
In March 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Vantara. In a post published on his official website, Modi commended Anant Ambani and his team for the initiative, describing it as an effort to provide animals with a safe haven while promoting wildlife welfare and ecological sustainability.
A New Initiative Targets Two Million Animals Annually
On October 6, 2026, Anant Ambani announced Champions of Care, a national initiative aimed at strengthening community animal welfare in India.
According to the announcement published by Vantara, the programme brings together more than 50 animal welfare organisations and aims to support approximately two million animals annually.
The initiative is intended to strengthen local animal shelters and welfare groups through veterinary care, rescue services, animal ambulances, shelter infrastructure, feeding assistance and other forms of support.
It covers community dogs and cats as well as cattle, donkeys, horses and other animals requiring assistance.
