MoEFCC Launches Special Campaign 6 to Institutionalize Swachhata and Promote Scientific E-Waste Management

New Delhi, October 2: The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) today commenced the Implementation Phase of Special Campaign 6, being observed from 02.10.2026 to 31.10.2026, with the objectives of institutionalizing Swachhata and minimizing pendency in Government offices. The Campaign is being undertaken across the Ministry, including its Subordinate Offices, Autonomous Organisations, Regional Offices and other field and outstation offices, with particular emphasis on offices having public interface or providing public services.

Special Campaign 6 is being undertaken in accordance with the guidelines of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG). This year’s Campaign focuses on “Effective Collection, Segregation and Disposal of E-Waste”, along with cleanliness of campaign sites, disposal of pending matters, records management, space management, process simplification and disposal of redundant items and furniture.

The Ministry has also communicated the Campaign guidelines and the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for scientific disposal of e-waste to all its Organisations and Offices.

As part of the Preparatory Phase, MoEFCC has identified targets under various parameters, including cleanliness, pendency liquidation and record management. The targets include

The e-waste identified by the Organisations and Offices will be processed in accordance with the applicable Rules and the SOP guidelines finalized by DARPG.

The Implementation Phase of Special Campaign 6 has also commenced in all Subordinate Offices, Autonomous Organisations and Regional Offices. Nodal Officers have been designated to coordinate and monitor the activities, ensure timely reporting and facilitate achievement of the identified targets. The Ministry will continue to monitor progress through the Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters (SCDPM) Portal of DARPG, which will be updated regularly during this Phase.
